Council of Organizations member charities are active in working towards “Good Health and Well-being“, as one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in 2015. Rick Flath, President and Founding Director of Institute for Life Sciences Collaboration, chairs the Council of Organizations’ Health Care Committee.

SDG 3 aims to achieve universal health coverage, that seeks equitable access of healthcare services to all men and women. It proposes to end the preventable death of newborns, infants and children under 5 (child mortality) and end epidemics.
Non-communicable diseases can be serious, protracted, and progressive, and nearly half of them manifest during childhood. Mortality from NCD’s is high, with 85% of early deaths occurring in low- and middle-income countries. NCD’s threaten progress towards the United Nation’s Agenda for Sustainable Development Goal #3: Good Health and Well-Being, which strives for a 33% reduction of premature NCD deaths by 2030.
