The purpose of the discussion is to provide information and a dialogue on key issues facing the United Nations as it emerges from its 80th anniversary and prepares for its session in September 2026. The scope of the discussion will include international treaties, human rights, the UN Security Council, the selection of the next Secretary-General, the status and findings of the UN Permanent Forum on People of African Descent, and perspectives on strengthening the UN for future impact.
